I designed Quick Artisan to solve this problem by creating a simple and dependable platform where users can easily find, verify, and book skilled professionals in just a few minutes.

The Problems: Finding a Reliable Help
Picture this. A pipe bursts. A fan stops working. A faulty wire sparks. You reach for your phone... and now the real problem begins.
• Most people rely on word of mouth or random online numbers
• No ratings, no verified profiles, and zero guarantees
• Artisans arrive late (or not at all), overcharge, or underdeliver
• There's no easy way to compare services or book with confidence
Quick Artisan was born from this simple frustration: finding help shouldn’t be this hard.
Digging Deeper: Understanding the Real Struggles
I started by speaking with the people who live this problem.
Research Methods
• 10 in-depth interviews with homeowners, renters, and small business owners
• 30+ survey responses from users across Lagos and Abuja
• Competitor reviews of platforms like Jiji, Gatekrasher, Call2Fix and online handyman groups
What I Learnt:
• Trust and availability are more important than price
• Most users want the artisan to be vetted, reachable, and reviewed
• A clean, fast experience is key, especially for mobile users in a rush

Usability tests revealed key improvements:
• Simplifying the pricing section
• Making the chat icon more visible
• Emphasizing trust signals (badges, reviews, recent jobs)
Feedback was clear: users found it easy, quick, and trustworthy.

Key Results from User Testing
• 87% of users were able to book a verified artisan in under 2 minutes
• Users rated the booking flow as “simple” and “stress-free”
• Trust levels improved drastically once artisan profiles included photos, badges, and reviews
My Takeaways
Clarity drives conversion
When the user journey is clear and intuitive, users are more likely to take action. Streamlined flows in Quick Artisan led to faster bookings and significantly reduced drop-off rates.
Modular design systems enhance efficiency
Creating a reusable component library ensured design consistency across the app. It also accelerated the design process and made developer handoff smoother and more accurate.
Listening leads to better solutions
Every impactful feature in Quick Artisan was informed by real user feedback. Prioritizing user voices helped me design a product that solves actual problems, not assumed ones.
